Bane Williams is finishing his first boardgame after spending some time doing some mod coding for the video games communities he was involved in.
Tell us who you are and what you have designed?
I’m Bane Williams.
I’m currently in the final processes of designing my first boardgame, Haulomancy. I’ve previously designed a number of mods for the videogame community, starting way back in the days of WarCraft 3.
Haulomancy – sounds very intriguing.
What is it that makes you want to design games?
The ability to get my creative vision out in a format that is immediately rewarding. The added ability of getting to watch the reactions of those experiencing it for the first time.
What are the games that inspire you most?
Those games that create an emotional bond with the player without really trying.
It is a funny thing with those games, they seem like they don’t try but they tend to be highly engineered to achieve that effect. I wish there was a formula for it.
What makes Australian games different from others?
I think it’s the fact that most Australians love all games in all their forms. It’s really rare to find Australians that “hate” a game type or genre… they might be bad at them, but they will usually always accept them as good games.
This philosophy tends to work its way into the game creation process, which leads to games that tend to borrow from a number of different genres rather than just sticking to a tried and true formula.
Another answer I have never really considered also – I love my hobby 🙂
Where can we get your games from?
Right now you can’t. Soon? likely Kickstarter.
And he said he is interested at selling on the store too so after a bit of negotiation you may be able to get them at Games On Board too 🙂
Are you working on anything at the moment?
Yes. In addition to working on Haulomancy, I’m also working on prototypes for two other boardgames, while also helping people create Kickstarter’s to benefit their own visions.
Sounds brilliant. I am dying to know what Haulomancy is about so well teased sir!
We have three more profiles to go! Who will be next?
