Traveller: Into the Near Future

While I was playing 13th Age last night I was thinking about Traveller. In less than a week I will be playing the last of the 2014 Traveller games that I had planned. So what do I do from here? I like to pride myself on some interesting games and while I have enjoyed my time in the Bathune system that I created, it is time for something new. Something near future in fact.

What if I ran a game in an alternate Traveller universe where the players take on the role of the astronauts whom inadvertently cause Jump technology to be introduced into Earth. Something happens on a routine test mission and those astronauts who were a part of the mission disappeared. In the months that follow the disappearance the greatest minds across Earth theorize and work out what probably occurred with that famous quote from Sherlock Holmes;

Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.

But aside from that – what actually happened to those astronauts. Where did they go, what did they do. How did it end? Did it end? These are the questions that I want to ask as I run my Traveller game next year. Are you interested? Let me know and perhaps you will book a voyage on the prototype ship Icarus.

It is likely to be a fortnightly to monthly game of Classic Traveller where you will get to answer these questions and have an absolute ball playing the greatest Sci-fi RPG there ever was. It will be played using Fantasy Grounds and Hangouts. This is going to be an exciting game! Keep rolling!
